The Timonium Optimist Club was founded in June 1957 and has been serving the youth of our area ever since.
We are a chartered club of Optimist International (OI), part of Zone 6 of the Maryland-South Delaware Optimist District (MDSD). The Timonium Optimist Club and Foundation are recognized as a tax-exempt, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
The club implements on a local level a number of programs endorsed by Optimist International, but the club also conducts its own local projects to meet the unique needs of our nearby communities. Through fundraising efforts and direct programming, the club has a positive effect on the lives of hundreds of young people each year.
The Timonium Optimist Club sometimes combines efforts with other Optimist Clubs or other service groups and organizations in the community to leverage our impact. For example, we interact with local public and private schools, the Baltimore County Police and Fire Departments, the Police Athletic League and the Lutherville-Timonium Recreation Council.
The club is proud to mark its 60th Anniversary in June 2017!
The Optimist Club of Timonium, Inc.—known informally as the Timonium Optimist Club or Timonium Optimists—is an organization of civic-minded men and women working together for the greater good of our area, particularly in service to youth. As Timonium Optimists, we volunteer our time and talents on projects that positively affect young people in our local community and throughout the metropolitan area. More »
Timonium Optimists Celebrate Fifty Years
On June 17, 2007, the Optimist Club of Timonium officially turned 50, and the club celebrated the milestone at a dinner party held at the Timonium Holiday Inn Select on June 23, 2007. The anniversary dinner was a fitting tribute to the club’s long service to youth and the community, and it set the stage for continuing service from a vibrant club in the years ahead.
