The Timonium Optimists join forces with three other Optimist Clubs in late summer to hold a Poker Run to help finance the costly Shop with a Cop program they sponsor each December.
What is a Poker Run? Participants register at a main location, drive to a series of checkpoints where they get an official card stamped, and return to the starting point. When a vehicle completes the circuit, its registered occupants draw five playing cards. The top poker hands win prizes. Motorcycles and cars are welcome!
To add to the fun, raffle tickets for additional prizes such as gift certificates to stores and restaurants are sold. At the end of the event, the raffle winners are announced and the poker run prizes are awarded.
